ABOUT HEALTH TESTS
There are many positive benefits to having a health test. Many who have chosen to take a health test at Feminea Laboratories have done so for one or more of the following reasons:
- They want to be preventive and detect potential health problems before they become serious
- Make it possible to take preventive measures
- They want to make lifestyle changes and have a baseline to work from
- They want to learn more about their body and how it works.
- They want to better understand how their lifestyle choices affect one's health
- At the medical assessment, get personal advice and recommendations.
- Increase your chances of achieving and maintaining good health
- They may also have different types of symptoms, e.g. feeling tired and hung-over and want to know if it could be due to e.g. imbalances in hormones.

Taking a health test with Feminea Laboratories
It is very simple.
Step 1: When you have chosen one of our health tests, you place an order here online. The purchase is safe and secure.
Step 2: After the purchase, you will receive a referral from us that is electronic or downloadable on My Pages. You take the referral with you to the blood sampling clinic you feel comfortable with. If you can't find the clinic, you can google your hometown and order "blood test" and different clinics will come up. We are connected to everyone who belongs to the Swedish healthcare system. You can also contact us via e-mail and you will receive a quick response.
Step 3. When you have taken your blood test, it takes 2-6 working days until your analysis is ready. We will notify you via email when it is ready.
You need a referral for blood sampling for analysis in a laboratory. You do not need a referral for health tests you do at home.
When you order a health test from us, we produce a referral for you. We normally produce the referral within one working day.
For blood sampling at a laboratory, the referral is either electronically linked directly to sampling and the laboratory or can be downloaded after ordering.
You will receive a referral. If you have ordered a health test by going through the checkout, you should receive a receipt for the order itself with an order number. It is your proof that you have ordered a test with us. If you have not received the receipt, there may be a technical error or the receipt has ended up in your junk mail. Contact us if you feel sure that you have ordered and paid and we will quickly sort it out. Don't forget to check your trash first. It is not uncommon for mail to end up there.
If you have not received your referral, it may be because the payment simply did not go through for some reason. We cannot produce a referral without an order number linked to a social security number.
If everything above has gone well, it can take from 2 hours to a full business day before you receive a referral. If you order on a late Friday afternoon, it is likely that the referral will be produced the following Monday morning. As soon as it is produced, we send out an e-mail notification that the referral is ready and you can see it on My Pages.
NUMBER OF MARKERS
Our packages in various areas often consist of
- Basal package - Basic package focusing on specific health area
- Extended package - More markers that circle the focus and give a better overall picture
- Advanced package - Comprehensive package so nothing is missed that could affect the focus area with the perspective of health markers
A basic package is generally much cheaper than the extended packages. In extended packages, extra focus markers can be included and also e.g. blood status and vitamin status because there are often connections between these.
In our most advanced packages, we can also include markers to rule out deficiencies or imbalances that are relatively uncommon.
Our most advanced packages include as many as over 65 markers, but many of these are standard in healthcare. The number of markers is not really the important thing, but it is which marker that we analyze and understand that is important to you.
When you compare health tests, there are actors who remove the most expensive markers to bring down the average price per marker. We don't do that. We want to give as complete a picture as possible of the area that is of interest to you.
It is not enough to take a blood sample to determine disease. We do not make diagnoses or comment on results based on, for example, anamnesis and symptoms. The markers that are measured also do not have to be relevant to the particular area that you are interested in to determine a disease. Our health tests do not replace a medical visit.

Health tests based on a blood sample at a sampling cost anything between a couple of hundred Swedish kroner up to several thousand kroner and usually depend on the number of blood markers to be examined. The cost includes referral production, administration, sampling cost and medical costs which are more or less a fixed cost plus a variable cost which is the number of markers and its type. Even the cost of the health marker itself has a large range, which depends on the analysis method and complexity and how often it is measured in Swedish healthcare. Markers for blood status are relatively inexpensive, while hormones are much more expensive. Genetic markers are often very expensive.

The sampling site can be a healthcare clinic, a specific unit for sampling or a hospital.
FemineaLab is connected to all sampling sites in Sweden that belong to publicly funded care, which is at least 150 sites. Some cities have dozens of locations while smaller cities may have none at all. On the map you can see which one is closest to you.
You also see if it has drop-in or appointment booking.
If you cannot find your clinic nearby, it is because we have not listed all clinics. It is easy to google the clinic with, for example, the name of your municipality and "blood test".
With our referral, you can go to the one you want even if it is not on the map.

TO PREPARE FOR SAMPLING
On the referral you have received from us, there are instructions on how to prepare in terms of whether you should fast or what time you must come for the test. The preparations you have to make depend on the health test you have chosen.
Generally speaking, often for hormones, the test must be taken before 10 am and on an empty stomach.
Download your referral and bring identification.
Check what applies locally for your particular sampling location, which is stated on the sampling's website.
Please note that times for sampling can be changed locally in terms of whether it is drop-in or appointment booking
It is good to arrive about 15 minutes early so you can rest for a while before the exam.
Hormone tests during the menstrual cycle
The short answer is YES, you can.
When you take a sample, an analysis is made of the actual levels of hormone markers when you give your blood. Depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle or are in menopause, the levels will vary. For example, progesterone increases sharply after ovulation. This is taken into account in the reference intervals specified for each hormone on the lab analysis. There are also general relationships between levels of hormones in the menstrual cycle. The doctor also makes an assessment based on this.

TEST RESULTS WITH MEDICAL ASSESSMENT NORMALLY WITHIN 2-6 DAYS
On average, it takes 2-6 working days before we can send you a reply. Notification comes via e-mail. Below are some explanations for the work process itself
- When you have taken your blood test, it is sent to the nearest laboratory. It often takes 1-2 business days for the lab to do the analysis once they receive your blood sample.
- If the analysis is completely electronically connected, we should receive it immediately when it is ready.
- Within 1-2 working days after we have received the lab analysis, our doctor is ready with his assessment. If everything goes as planned, we will notify you within a maximum of 6 working days that the analysis is complete.
VARIOUS REASONS THAT IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME BEFORE YOU GET YOUR RESULT.
- If the analysis contains specific markers such as Retinol, it may take several weeks before the entire analysis is complete. We usually act so that you still get an answer to all other markers in their entirety, depending on which marker the lab has left out. Then we give a supplementary answer when the last marker is ready.
- Normally, the analysis is sent to the nearest larger lab and the lab then forwards the results to us. It sometimes happens that the sampling itself uses itself as a referent and thus gets the test result back to the sampling unit itself. They shouldn't do that because it is clearly stated on the referral who is the sender, i.e. us, but it sometimes happens anyway and we then have to inform the sampling unit what applies. This may be because they are not as used to national referrals at a local unit.
- If you take a blood test at a local health center, which is perfectly fine, it sometimes happens that they take the analysis in return and then use the post to us. Then it may take several days before we have the results with us.
- We recommend our customers to go to the larger samplings at the hospitals, mainly for two reasons. It often goes quickly because they often specialize in this and have efficient processes with the lab.
You own your test results. They are protected with us and you can access them via your BankID. We follow the healthcare laws and regulations on confidentiality. You can always leave your consent to another healthcare provider so they can see your results
The test result is structured in roughly the same way as the product you ordered from us.
There will be a list of your health markers, what level you have, which reference ranges are valid for the specific marker and a comment from the doctor.
A good result is when you are within the reference range, while a level that is outside the reference range shows that the value may need to be checked with your healthcare provider.
With us, we have made it so that you receive a report that consists first of the doctor's comments on all the values and a summary if you need to fix something. In the appendix, we have also added original laboratory data, which may be good for you to have if you need to go on to a healthcare provider.
